This upcoming Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we’re looking forward to buying some affordable VPN subscriptions to test out, and you should be too. These are two of the only days out of the year that you can see such deep discounts on these services.
The good news is, you can already get some deals. As early as now, there are VPN sales from even the top VPN brands but Black Friday and Cyber Monday usually bring deeper discounts.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals From The Top VPN Brands
VPNs don’t cost that much, especially if you sign up for a long-term subscription (one year or more). That said, this Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2024, you can get discounts in the form of additional months of service completely on the house. Here are some of the best VPN deals we found last year.

NordVPN

NordVPN currently sits at the top of our list of the best VPNs, and for good reasons. It has the most advanced security features around like Tor Over VPN and Double VPN, it’s very secure, and it’s not over-the-top expensive. For Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2023 — or rather, the whole month of November — NordVPN tacked on three free months of service to any of its one-year and two-year subscriptions. That goes for the Standard, Plus, and Complete plans.

Surfshark

Surfshark is another strong option, particularly when it comes to making sure your web traffic doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. It has features like Camouflage Mode and NoBorders Mode that make sure you can get around restrictions and censorship without getting into trouble. Surfshark’s Black Friday 2023 offer was similar to NordVPN’s, but the free months apply only to the 24-month subscription, the longest subscription available from Surfshark. Also, instead of three months, you got three to five months free depending on your subscription. The VPN-only plan got you three months; the Surfshark One (all-in-one suite with VPN, antivirus, etc.) plan got you four months; and the Surfshark One+ (Surfshark One plus identity monitoring) gets five months free.

Private Internet Access, or PIA, is an affordable but reliable VPN. Our favorite thing about it, as we’ve explained in our Private Internet Access review, is the level of customizability it allows, which makes it a great option whether you’re a VPN novice or someone who has been using VPNs for a long time.
Last year, Private Internet Access’ Black Friday deal was four months of free service if you sign up for a three-year subscription for $79. That broke down to just $1.99 per month for 40 months. PIA subscriptions are already affordable even without deals, and its Black Friday offer just took it to a whole new level of affordability. Here’s what PIA’s 2023 Black Friday prices looked like:

IPVanish

IPVanish values customer service — that’s one of the things we loved about it — and as part of its service to customers, it’s adding three months to its one-year and two-year subscriptions.
With those free months, the one-year deal’s average monthly rate is down to $2.99, while the two-year deal is down to $2.49. That’s 81-percent off if you compare it to the regular monthly price ($12.99).
Ivacy
Our rating: 9.2/10
Ivacy is one of the most affordable VPNs, especially during last year’s Black Friday sale, with subscriptions going for up to 90 percent off.
The percentage-off discount applied to the five-year plan, Ivacy’s longest and most affordable subscription. Normally, this plan costs about $1.19 per month, but for Black Friday 2023, the average monthly cost was down to just $1. It’s not much of a discount, but given that Ivacy plans are already affordable, we’re just happy to know they can get even lower.
ExpressVPN

We love ExpressVPN, but one of the reasons it’s not higher on our list of the best VPNs is its price. It’s a bit more expensive compared to other top VPNs. For example, even if you sign up for a one-year ExpressVPN subscription, the rate is still high at $8.33 per month.
Feature-wise, though, ExpressVPN can go toe to toe against the best VPNs out there, which is why we’re thrilled that ExpressVPN had a Black Friday offer last year. The offer was three months of free VPN service if you buy a one-year subscription for $99.95. At that price, it would appear as though the monthly rate is down to $6.67 per month, an almost $2 per month difference compared to regular rates.
Atlas VPN

Atlas VPN is a newcomer, but it’s easily one of the best cybersecurity tools out there because it also offers a data breach monitor on top of its VPN service. You can read all about it in our Atlas VPN review.
Atlas had one of the biggest Black Friday 2023 deals. For starters, the three-year plan from Atlas was 84-percent off compared to the monthly plan. In total, customers paid just $71.52 for three whole years of VPN use. On top of that, by using the code BLACKFRIDAY at checkout, you got six months of free service.
PureVPN
Our rating: 8.9/10
PureVPN has been running the same Black Friday deal for a few years — 84 percent off the two year plan. The two-year plan from PureVPN costs $52.95 during Black Friday, and if you grabbed this deal, it was like you were paying only $2.03 per month. Will 2024 be the same? Only time will tell.
CyberGhost
Our rating: 8.9/10
CyberGhost is one of the best VPNs we’ve ever tested on a Mac computer, and as you might expect from a VPN with the word “ghost” in its name, it’s pretty stealthy. It has NoSpy servers, for instance — servers operated and owned by CyberGhost itself that is far from the reach of any government surveillance alliances.
CyberGhost’s Black Friday 2023 offer, much like many of the VPNs we’ve already discussed, was a few months of free VPN added to the longest subscription option. In CyberGhost’s case, that was three months of free VPN added to the two-year plan. With this offer, the average monthly rate was down to just $2.11 per month.
Proton
Our rating: 8.8/10
Proton offers a complete suite of digital security tools, which includes Proton VPN, Proton Mail, Proton Calendar, and Proton Drive, and for Black Friday 2023, a two-year subscription to those services was 38-percent off. Instead of $12.99 per month, which is the regular going rate, it only cost $7.99 per month for a total of $191.76.

VPNs aren’t very expensive in general, especially when you consider the privacy and security benefits you get from them, but last holiday season, you could get a VPN for even less.
