Lorex security cameras are known across the industry as rugged, high-quality, and high-tech. We have a few of them ourselves and we’ve seen how well they can work to deter crime, especially when set up outdoors. They record continuously to a DVR and offer features like 4K resolution, built-in motion-activated lights, and person detection.
But as we know from testing several Lorex cameras, buying a Lorex security camera system can get expensive fast. That’s why we time our purchase when Lorex has a sale, and Lorex biggest sales often take place around Thanksgiving. We’re talking about its Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale, which this year is slated for November 29 and December 2, respectively.
What can we expect from Lorex this year?
Black Friday 2024 – Expectations
With Black Friday and Cyber Monday still a long way to go from now, we still don’t know what Lorex’s sale will look like. We only know that year after year, Lorex offers discounts that can save you hundreds of dollars.
To give you some idea, we recorded these prices during last year’s (2023) Black Friday sale:

Fusion 4K Bullet Cameras (6-pack) | 16-channel 2 TB NVR | $577.49 | $248 |
4K IP Dome Cameras (4-pack) | 16-channel 2 TB NVR | $559.99 | $140 |
IP Dome Camera w/ Listen-In function (2-pack) | 16-channel 2 TB NVR | $399.99 | $100 |
IP Dome Camera w/ Smart Deterrence (4-pack) | 16-channel 2 TB NVR | $524.99 | $225 |
IP Dome Camera (4-pack) + 2K Floodlight + 2K Wired Doorbell | 16-channel 2 TB NVR | $749.99 | $250 |

IP Bullet Camera (16-pack) | 32-channel 8 TB NVR | $1,609.99 | $690 |
The up to $700 discount gave us plenty of motivation to be patient and scout Lorex’s wide product catalog last year, and will likely motivate us to monitor Lorex’s prices this year. Just keep an eye out for the Lorex Black Friday Blowout Sale. It doesn’t disappoint year after year.
In addition to the site-wide Black Friday sale, though, there were a couple of other sales that usually happen around Thanksgiving. The mechanics are slightly different, but they are also a must-see if you’re looking to buy a Lorex security camera system. They are called Site Crashers and Outlet Clearance Sale.

Site Crashers: Another Lorex Special Sale
There’s actually a rather amusing story behind that name. In 2013, Lorex’s website literally crashed due to an abnormal influx of online traffic. The reason? Lorex’s Black Friday offer that included a $1 camera, a $50 four-channel DVR system, and a $100 16-channel DVR system. Those were all limited-quantity deals, so shoppers flocked to Lorex’s website hoping to get a piece of the action.
Lorex eventually continued Site Crashers as tradition, but with more toned down deals. For example, one we spotted last year was a Lorex 2K indoor Wi-Fi security camera being sold at $39.99. That’s a 2K camera, not a regular 1080p HD camera like the Wyze Cam and Blink Mini (both $35). You can’t normally get a 2K camera at that price point.
Our suggestion is to keep monitoring the Site Crashers page around Thanksgiving, and if you see one you like, act fast. They’re limited-quantity deals, so the earlier you get them, the better.
Note: Lorex’s pricing is competitive, especially if you’re looking to buy a security camera system with multiple cameras. Add to that the fact that Lorex systems often come with DVRs, so you don’t have to pay for cloud storage anymore.
Save Even More With The Lorex Outlet Clearance Sale
Now, if you are looking for even more ways to save, and you don’t mind using refurbished products, Lorex’s Outlet Clearance Sale is another thing to consider. This also happens during Black Friday, and basically, it features refurbished products. Don’t worry, Lorex tests and checks them beforehand, and they come with a one-year warranty just like brand-new Lorex cameras.
Refurbished products are already more affordable than brand-new ones, but with this sale, you can slash an extra 50-percent off the price of refurbished Lorex cameras.
A Guide To Lorex Cameras
Now, we know that all the options on Lorex’s website can be overwhelming; we were overwhelmed ourselves when we picked a Lorex security camera system to review. Thankfully, Lorex made it a little easier to pick by dividing its cameras into four categories:
- Analog security systems: Analog security systems are the most economical camera systems from Lorex. Analog systems consist of cameras and a DVR, which are all connected together by coaxial BNC cables.
- IP security systems: IP security systems include IP cameras and a DVR. The IP cameras connect to the DVR via Ethernet cables, which allow for faster data transmission than analog systems.
- Wire-free security systems: Wire-free security systems consist of battery-powered Wi-Fi cameras. They are literally wire-free, which eliminates the need for wire management.
- Nocturnal security systems: Nocturnal security systems are Lorex’s flagship camera systems. Nocturnal cameras have a 4K video resolution, higher than any other Lorex camera. To match the performance of Nocturnal cameras, Nocturnal security systems come with Nocturnal DVRs, which Lorex designed to be able to support 4K recording.
There are also hybrid systems from Lorex called Fusion, which are systems with a combination of two or more camera types. For example, you can pick up wire-free and IP cameras and connect them together to the same DVR or NVR.

What We Think Of Lorex Cameras
We haven’t tested all of Lorex’s cameras, but we have tested the Nocturnal 4K Ultra HD 8-Channel Security System from Lorex, which included a one TB hard drive and four cameras, along with the compatible cables, mounting kits, power adapters, and other accouterments. You can read more about our experience with the system in our Lorex review.
What we really liked about this camera system is that it didn’t require monthly fees. Since all of our footage was saved to the hard drive, we didn’t have to pay for cloud storage; rather, we just backed up the footage onto our Google Drive. The cameras shot in 4K, which is twice as clear as our industry standard of 1080p HD, and we only got alerts when the cameras detected people and cars.
However, we didn’t love everything about the Lorex system. Without professional monitoring as an option, we had to pay attention to all of our notifications, although again, this saved us from paying steep monthly fees. The same was true with installation; we had to install the system ourselves, although this wasn’t too difficult. Finally, Lorex’s customer support was lacking, especially on Sundays. But all in all, Lorex is a great option for the DIY home security customer who’s not afraid of getting their hands dirty.
In Conclusion
Year after year, Lorex delivers impressive Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts through its Black Friday Blowout Sale, Cyber Monday Sale, Site Crasher deals, and Outlet Clearance Sale. All of these special sales normally offer deep discounts on a wide variety of Lorex cameras.
